The British Psychological Society is a registered charity which acts as the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK, and is responsible for the promotion of excellence and ethical practice in the science, education, and application of the discipline.
BPS do work which may include promoting the profession, representing members, curriculum frameworks, post registration education and training and continuing professional development. BPS is separate from the HCPC.

hcpc is a regulator, and is set up to protect the public in UK. To do this, hcpc keep a register of health and care professionals who meet the hcpc standards for their training, professional skills, behaviour and health.
PROTECTED TITLES – PRACTITIONER PSYCHOLOGISTS
The designated titles below are protected by law. Anyone who uses one of these titles must be on the hcpc Register. A person who is not registered and who misuses a designated title is breaking the law.
